Based on the meter size, the minimum gallons and the minimum charge will come from the METER SIZES File. The system operator maintains the actual gallonages and charges. As your rates change you can maintain them.
If the usage is over the minimum then the additional charge for each 1000 gallons over the minimum will be found in the PRICE CONTROL file.
Example: For a 1inch meter using 50,000 gallons.
Let’s assume that the minimum gallons found in the meter sizes file is 20,000 gallons and that the minimum charge for a 1-inch meter found in the meter sizes file would be 62.95
The amount of gallons over the minimum is 30,000 and the price file indicates that the next 20,000 gallons is to be charged at 1.92 per 1000 gallons so 20 times 1.92 is +38.40
The price file indicates the next 50,000 gallons is to be charged at 1.55 per 1,000 gallons so the 10,000 gallons that has not been billed yet will be 10 times 1.55 and is +15.50
Total water charges for this customer will be 116.85
If the surcharge percent in the meter size file is found to be .01095, the surcharge will be 1.28
The same type of formula would be used to calculate the sewer charge.
A pending penalty will be reflected on the bill along with a due date. If the bill is not paid by that due date then the penalty will be charged.
