Setup and User Guide

Introduction

A-Shell is a middleware tool that allows applications written in AlphaBASIC for the Alpha Micro Operating System (AMOS) to run in Windows, UNIX and Linux environments. A-Shell attempts to precisely replicate the AMOS environment on these alternate hardware platforms and provide total compatibility with AMOS programs.

This document, the A-Shell Setup Guide, has been written for the person responsible for (a) installing, (b) configuring, and (c) maintaining A-Shell within the organization. Everything required to accomplish those tasks should be found in this document. Additional documentation on A-Shell is available in the developer and programmer materials, all of which can be found on the MicroSabio web site documents page.

Following are some comments on compatibility issues, which should be understood by anybody moving applications and data from AMOS to A-Shell. Immediately after these introductory notes comes Installation and subsequent setup material.
