Is it possible to use INMEMO for just displaying / editing text, without having a MEMO file? Or I have to use something like VUESCR for editing and MSBOXX and PRINT statements for displaying?

I'm not sure why we were keeping this a secret, but it appears that although the feature has been around for many years, it was never documented (at least under A-Shell).

To make matters worse, the test program TSTNFL.BAS wasn't posted to the SOSLIB [908,43] directory either.

I've just now taken care of the latter problem, so you can grab the test program and hopefully will find it almost self-explanatory. Essentially it's just a matter of setting the channel parameter to 0, in which case the text parameter can contain the entire memo text.

VUESCR is built on INMEMO using that mechanism, but it doesn't give you the flexibility to establish an arbitrary viewing window or to play with the other opcodes.

I should add that if you're using ATE as the terminal emulator, you can use XTEXT instead of INMEMO. XTEXT supports memory and file-based editing, standard text and RTF/HTML formats, fonts, attributes, styles, toolbar, ruler, etc. etc. (Basically a Windows-style word processor packaged in an XCALL.)

I cannot see TSTNFL.BAS under http://www.microsabio.net/dist/soslib/. Is it posted somewhere else?
