We have had this request, not sure if there is anything hidden or what might be possible for the ATE install:

Hi Madics Support,

We're trying to roll out the latest Madics ATE as per : https://1drv.ms/u/s!Asoz-ibBZw1ztCjsOS... which was provided to ...

Unfortunately we're running in to issues where the installer cannot be ran silently and requires user input to either select a New install or update/upgrade an existing one :

Can you please confirm if there's a command line option for a silent install that will just update any existing installation?

We've tried both /qn and /quiet on our script but that results in a prompt each time.

Kind Regards,

....

The standard switch for silent mode is /s

However, that doesn't eliminate the standard Windows warning about making changes to your system.

And, it doesn't affect the Madics dialog that pops up in your customer installer. But I guess it could.

There's also the question of what should happen in the case of a warning condition requiring user input (like the exe is in use). Which leads perhaps to the larger question of just what the goal is If it's just to eliminate giving the user the option of update vs new install, maybe we should implement a specific switch for that, rather than for "silent" per se.

They are looking to push it centrally via MS System Center so want it to run silent, the update would be part of a kind custom version of Windows Update so the user would be logged out at the time.

I'll make a version that stifles your custom Madics dialog and then you can see if running it from MS System Center eliminates the initial system dialog to allow changes to the system.

Ok, I updated the 6.5.1691.3 version of your custom installer to support the /S switch silencing everything (except the initial Microsoft system dialog to allow changes.)

Let me know if that works for you.

I think that did the job, Thanks Jack.

Feed back:
FYI for your use we couldn't get the .msi running with the /S or /quiet switch without it just showing this prompt :
In the end we used the .exe with the /s switch which has worked perfectly
