Version 7.0 has been moved out of 'Beta' into general release, effectively replacing the prior 6.4 stable release.

For those currently running 6.4: although we strive for upward compatibility and are not aware of any particular obstacles for this update, 7.0 nevertheless represents years of accumulated enhancements so you would be well advised to run some tests before updating any critical production sites. But don't procrastinate. Support for 6.4 will be phased out over the next couple of months (meaning that the solution to any technical problem will probably be simply to update). However, so as not to force the issue, the Help > Check For Updates link has not been changed from 6.4 to 7.0 (yet). See below for notes in manually updating.

For those currently running 6.5: this may be viewed as just another incremental update, no more likely to introduce new problems that any of the prior incremental intra-6.5 updates you've probably already experienced. The Help > Check For Update link has been changed to point to 7.0, so that is the easiest way to update for Windows and ATE.

Manual Update. For Linux, any 6.4 platform, and anyone who wants to update manually (or install a separate copy for parallel testing), navigate to the the 7.0 Release Download Directory Tree, select your platform, and manually download the appropriate exe or bin or tz package. For the exe packages, just execute it to launch the installer. For the Linux packages, see the install-notes-linux.txt file.

Any questions or concerns specifically about the update process, or reports of compatibility issues surfacing during or immediately after the update should be posted here. Other technical questions and issues may be posted in the appropriate forums as in the past.
