**tab(-10, AG\_PLAYSOUND); fspec, flags \{,status\}; chr(127);** [Tab(-10,x) Syntax Notes](ag_xxx_syntax-notes.md)

AG\_PLAYSOUND (105) forces the ATE client to play a sound file.

This function has both a [subroutine and a print tab implementation](subroutine-print-pairs.md).

**Parameters**

_fspec_ and _flags_ are the same as for the [MX\_PLAYSOUND](mx_playsound.md)[xs](keyword-types.md). _status_ may be set to non-zero if you want to get the return status in the keyboard buffer. Otherwise (if 0 or omitted), there is no response.

Note that _fspec_ must be a PC native filespec, and that AG\_PLAYSOUND supports the standard image file search path and %env% variables.

**Response**

None, unless _status_ is "1", in which case the response will be the string representation of one of the following values followed by <CR>:

| **Value** | **Description\*** |
|------|------|
| 1 | Success |
| 0 | file (fspec) not found |
| \-98 | Unable to load winmm.dll |
| \-99 | DLL loaded but unable to link to PlaySound function |
