Terminal/keyboard input and output is actually just a variation of [Sequential File I/O](sequentialfiles.md) (e.g. INPUT, PRINT, ...) with the only difference being that the terminal channel is always 0. For terminal output statements, the channel parameter is optional; omitting it is the same as specifying a channel value of zero. For terminal input, the channel parameter must be omitted and optionally replaced by a prompt. For example:

map1 name\$,s,20

input "What's your name? ", name\$ \! (channel replaced by prompt)

print #0, "hello"; name\$ \! (explicit channel 0)

print "Goodbye" \! (implicit channel 0)

See [Sequential File I/O](sequentialfiles.md) for further details.
