# ATELICMODE > [HTML Version](atelicmode.htm) The pseudo-environment variable ATELICMODE is supported in [AG\_GETENV](ag_getenv.htm.md) to return a single decimal value containing flags indicating how the ATE workstation was licensed. The upper byte(s) contain one or more bit flags from the ATELF\_xxx table below, and the bottom eight bits of the value will match one of the LICF\_xxx values below. | **Symbol** | **Value** | **Description\*** | |------|------|------| | ATELF\_PROTO | \&h0100 | ATE handshake was initiated, and also that the ATE client is at least 5.1.1164.0. (Prior to that, command TAB(-10,AG\_GETENV);"ATELICMODE";chr(127) will return an empty string. | | ATELF\_PC | \&h0200 | ATE client has a local license. | | ATELF\_SRV1 | \&h0400 | The server attempted to pass the ATE license via the new streamlined protocol (1162+) | | ATELF\_SRV2 | \&h0800 | The server attempted to pass the ATE license via the LICENS/ATESRV mechanism. This also implies that the server is less than 5.1.1162.0 and/or that the passed license wasn't valid (in which case the lower byte should be <>0). | | ATELF\_AUX | \&h1000 | The server attempted to pass an auxiliary license to the client. (Will always be combined with ATELF\_SRV2.) | | **Definition file: [ashell.def](ashell_def.htm.md)** | | | **Symbol** | **Value** | **Description\*** | |------|------|------| | LICF\_NORMAL | 0 | normal (licensed mode) | | LICF\_DEMO | 1 | demo mode | | LICF\_BADKEY | 2 | bad key | | LICF\_BADCO | 3 | bad company name | | LICF\_NONODE | 4 | no nodes | | LICF\_PSHELL | 5 | PolyShell not licensed | | LICF\_BADOS | 6 | license for other (wrong) operating system | | LICF\_EXPIRED | 7 | maintenance expiration | | LICF\_EXPEXE | 8 | run-time expiration | | LICF\_OLDKEY | 9 | old (and invalid) key format | | LICF\_ATSD | 10 | ATSD not licensed | | LICF\_SUPPORT | 11 | support use only | | LICF\_BADMAC | 12 | bad MAC address | | LICF\_SERIAL | 13 | invalid serial number | | **Definition file: [ashell.def](ashell_def.htm.md)** | |
