Appendix I: PC Installation using Windows or Linux

Scroll Prev Top Next More

This appendix documents the routines that are unique to the Windows and Linux operating systems. APS runs inside an emulation software called A-Shell. By clicking on the APS icon (the shell signifying A-Shell), the APS software is started.

There are two methods to exit the APS software. The menu selection "Close APS Windows Session” in either the Main or Store and System Utilities menus will halt APS and close the session. If the operator uses the ESCape key from the Master Menu, APS will halt but the window session is not closed. The operator will be at A-Shell’s command level, normally this is shown with the display of “APS.” called the command dot prompt. The two main commands that are available at that prompt are:

APS will re-start the APS software.

HOST will close the A-Shell window session.

Note, that there might be more sessions of APS running. Look at the “Start Bar” to see other instances of A-Shell / APS running.
