In the Daily Business menu is a selection that allows access to VUE, the text editor. This routine provides an easy way for a store to make quick notes about particular loans. When a note is entered, it is automatically displayed in the future when the loan is accessed for redemption, renewal, or pulling. Typically, the type of notes entered are: requests by the pledgor to hold the loan a couple days past the drop day in the they "will be there next Tuesday", police holds, when the police ask to "hold" the items, and notes to NOT redeem a loan without proper ID in the case where a ticket has been lost.

When the VUE option is selected the operator is asked for the name of the file. If the file name is in the form of a loan number, the routine will automatically insert leading zeros on the file name and either 1)create a file if one doesn't exist, or 2) loads in the file that may already be created. For example, say the police call and say "put a hold on loan 5437". Select the VUE menu item and give a file name of 5437. The routine will create a file by the name "005437.TXT". The screen will redisplay with the cursor in the upper left corner and the page filled with asterisks "***********". This is a "blank sheet of paper", enter the text, and use the arrow keys and the Enter key to move the cursor around the screen. To exit the editing mode, push the "ESCAPE" or "ESC" key. This will put the screen in the command mode with the cursor positioned in the upper left corner of the screen to the right of a ">". At that time, enter the letter "F" (which stands for finish) and push enter. The file will be permanently stored on disk and the system returns to the daily business menu. If while edited an existing text file, the changes made are NOT to be saved then enter Q for quit at the arrow. This will quit out of VUE and NOT update the text file with the changes made.
