Printer not printing report
A printer may sometimes be easily corrected by turning the printer off and back on. The second typical problem is that the select/on-line light is off. Push the select / on-line button and the light should turn on.
Check the power cables, terminal cables are the loose? Is the a sheet of paper jammed? Note that the printer should be cleaned / vacuumed once a month with a brush or needle vacuum. On the Okidata printers there is a paper sensor underneath the left side of the platen. Sometimes that sensor gets jammed with paper particles.
Killing a report on the printer
Sometimes a long report is printing and it is necessary to stop the print. In order to "kill" a report, first set the online / offline button to offline or turn the printer off. That will stop the report from printing and wasting paper.
In order to “cancel” the printout, the print queue of the printer must be displayed and the the long report has to be selected and then canceled.
Once APS creates a report it is “handed off” to Windows. To cancel the report the operator must access the Windows defined printer. In Windows select SETTINGS > Devices and printers > the specific printer. Double click on the printer name from windows then select open queue or manage queue. The list of reports to be printed will be displayed. Left click on the one to cancel and then from the drop down menu select cancel..
With the "kill" or cancel print routine, there might still be a page of a report printed even after the kill option has been entered. This is normal and is a piece of the report that was in a "memory buffer" on the printer when the kill was executed.
