To Void a sale there are two ways to void a sale: 1) void a CASH$ sale, 2) void a sale with a person’s name on the transaction. If the sale was to 'CASH$' then enter another cash sale with negative amounts for the items. In the cash tendered field enter the total amount as a negative number. If the sale was made either for a layaway or sale to a person, then inquire for that transaction and use the "V" option which will reverse the sale and print a void slip. This can be used as a credit slip for the customer. Note that the cash drawer balance sheet will be short if the credit is not used in the same day.

If the employee report is used to pay sales commissions and the sale is made in one pay period and voided in another pay period they employee’s total sales will net correctly but the total amount per pay period not be accurate. This is normally not a problem except where a voided sale is for a large dollar amout.

NOTE regarding firearms. The void option will not clear out a firearm record, the firearm could have been sold in the morning and left the store, returned and voided in the afternoon. Use a purchase to re-acquire the firearm which will create a new firearm number.
