Use the "Inquire" mode to find an existing loan either by entering the loan number or by entering the last name and the first name. If the name or number is not found, the system will continue to display loans when the ENTER is entered. Upon selecting the "I" for inquire, the cursor will be displayed in the LOAN No. field. If the operator knows the loan number, then just enter the number. If the loan number is not known then enter the ENTER key and the cursor will drop to the LAST NAME field. At this point enter the last name of the person and enter ENTER, the cursor is then positioned on the first name field. Enter the first name or partial first name and the system will search for the first occurrence of that specific person. Entering ENTER tells the system to continue inquiring from that point forward in the loan file.
When the required loan is found, typically the operator will either P=pay the loan, or R=renew the loan. The loan may also be V=voided, used as a pattern to W=write a new loan, in some states a loan E=Extension payment may be made, or reset to a status of "L" loan.
